In the above Channel9 video, Joe Belfiore speaks to the issues surrounding the current and future updates, and revealed his team was already working on 2012 updates. He mentioned most devices would already have had the pre-NoDo update, something I am far from sure off, and that they are rolling out the second update intentionally slowly to detect and prevent issues.
He also revealed that Microsoft is in fact creating updates for handsets all centrally, which according to Joe means no handset will be left behind.
