Windows Phone has a vanishingly small market share in Japan, so the release of a device by a local OEM is significant.
The good news today therefore is that the Mouse Computer Madosma Q501 Windows Phone is now available for pre-order at Rakuten in Japan.
The handset, which appears to be a Windows Reference Design device, will be retailing for only 33,800 JPY (US $271) and it includes shipping and taxes, with deliveries expected by the 19th June.
The company announced the news in a press release, and the listing for the device at Rakuten can be seen here.
The handset is unlocked, runs Windows Phone 8.1, features 4G LTE, has a 5 inch 720P screen, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, runs a Snapdragon 410 processor and comes with a 16 GB microSD card, and has a 2300 mAh battery. The handset has also been shown with Windows 10 Mobile, and is expected to get the update on release.
