Interesting: Microsoft may show Start screen background in place of Accent colour in Windows Phone 8.1

According to Tom Warren, from his sources, instead of implementing a background image that can only be glimpsed fleetingly in the cracks and spaces between live tiles, Microsoft may instead overlay the image across the top of the live tiles in place of the accent colour, with the result looking much like the image above, which is of Skinnery Tiles.
The result will be a lot more intrusive, but possibly a lot more inviting to novice users. Hopefully Microsoft will be able to automatically mute the more garish colours.
