- The upcoming Intel Lunar Lake-based PCs will only deliver 40 TOPS of NPU performance. But the integrated GPU will deliver up to 60 TOPS of AI performance.
At today’s Microsoft press conference, Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite was the star of the show. Over 20 Copilot+ PC designs were showcased by various OEMs including Microsoft, Dell and others. Today, Intel announced that its upcoming Lunar Lake processor will will power more than 80 new laptop designs across more than 20 OEMS. These devices wil be available starting Q3 2024 in time for the holiday season. Intel also expects that it will ship more than 40 million AI PC processors this year.
Intel Lunar Lake highlights:
- Lunar Lake will have more than 3 times the AI performance compared with the previous generation.
- With more than 40 NPU TOPS, Lunar Lake-based PCs will haver Copilot+ experiences.
- In addition to the updated NPU, Lunar Lake will also be equipped with over 60 GPU TOPS delivering more than 100 platform TOPS.
“The launch of Lunar Lake will bring meaningful fundamental improvements across security, battery life, and more thanks to our deep co-engineering partnership with Intel. We are excited to see Lunar Lake come to market with a 40+ TOPS NPU which will deliver Microsoft’s Copilot+ experiences at scale when available,” said Pavan Davuluri, corporate vice president of Windows + Devices at Microsoft.
Intel is also working with several ISVs to bring AI experiences to PCs powered by its processors.
