Instagram is going to make it a bit easier to hang on to your user name if you decide to change it for some reason.

App hacker Jane Manchun Wong has found a new text string in the app which suggests the company will now save your user name for 14 days after you change it, allowing you to revert to it without the risk of someone having grabbed it in the intervening period. So, if you picked out the perfect Instagram username for girls, you can rest easy now.

This would allow users, for example, to change their name in support for a cause without being at risk of a name squatter grabbing their handle.

The feature should be live now.
