The Mate X, Huawei’s first folding smartphone, may launch before the launch of Galaxy Fold, a competitor from Samsung. As we reported earlier, Huawei’s foldable was originally planned for a September release.

However, a recent poster of the Huawei’s Mate X was spotted at a shop in China. Needless to say, this is to promote the yet-to-be-released folding smartphone from Huawei. Although the poster doesn’t have any date mentioned on it, it’s likely that Huawei is planning to make its first foldable smartphone appear before us and it may appear sooner than you think.

An earlier release might also be due to the suspension of the ban that the US President Donal Trump imposed on Huawei a few days ago. Since Huawei can now deal with American tech giants like Google and Qualcomm, it makes little sense to push the launch date further.

Interestingly enough, Huawei never mentioned the reason behind the delay in the launch, unlike Samsung. The US ban might have played its part in forcing Huawei to push the launch date. Rumor also has it that Huawei’s smartphone was not ready for the prime time and hence the company was forced to delay in the launch. Either way, the posters clearly suggest that the wait is almost over.
