At IFA 2019, Huawei today revealed the FreeBuds 3, the next generation truly wireless earbuds that will compete against Apple AirPods. Similar to the FreeBuds 2, the new FreeBuds 3 still maintains the same AirPods-style design. Internally, Huawei has packed several technologies into FreeBuds 3.

First, the FreeBuds 3 is powered by HUAWEI Kirin A1 chip, an ultra-low power application processor that comes with an independent power management unit. Huawei claims that FreeBuds 3 has reduced latency by up to 30%.

Also, Freebuds 3 now includes the world’s first open-fit active noise cancellation. It supports up to 15dB ambient noise reduction. FreeBuds 3 comes equipped with a Bone Sensor to distinguish voice from environmental noise and a Mic Duct to combat the wind. The high-sensitivity 14mm dynamic driver delivers superior audio quality.

Compared to AirPods, FreeBuds 3 will charge 100 percent faster through wired mode, and 50 percent faster wirelessly. The FreeBuds 3 supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1.

Huawei did not reveal the pricing of FreeBuds 3, but mentioned that it will be cheaper than AirPods.
