It seems that notch, punch hole, and the pop-up selfie cameras are going to get a competitor soon and that competitor is under-the-display camera module, which finally hopefully will be capable of delivering a true all-screen experience. Oppo and Vivo have already started working on the new under the display technology and joining them is the Chinese tech giant Huawei.

Huawei filed a patent of an interface, which says clearly suggests that the company is definitely working on the project. According to the patent, the under-the-display camera is located on the left side of the screen. The portion of the screen where the camera is located can display relevant pieces of information according to the user activity( via PocketNow).

Since there is a lack of concrete evidence, we cannot confirm whether Huawei is planning to bring the under-the-display camera technology in their upcoming flagship. But, if forced to conjecture, I’d say it’s unlikely that we’ll see Huawei launching a smartphone that has the under-the-display camera any time soon.
