An HTC One M9 Windows Phone version has been rumoured for a while as a rather obvious follow-up to the HTC One M8 for Windows.
Now at a press conference to launch the HTC One M9+ in India Chia-Lin Chang, President of Global Sales and Chief Financial Officer at HTC, said that the company is closely working with Microsoft as they ramp up towards the release of Windows 10.
The WC quotes him as saying:
We’ll see how the new version of the Windows operating system shapes up and where it fits in the HTC lineup.
He continued, saying HTC would share more information about the next Windows smartphone by HTC by the end of second quarter or the beginning of third quarter this year.
The HTC One M9 features a SnapDragon 810 processor, though rumours are that it is throttled to control heat issues. In addition it has 3GB of RAM, a 5 inch 1080P screen, 20 megapixel camera which performs rather poorly and a 4 megapixel front-facing camera.
Unfortunately for international Windows Phone fans current rumours suggest the HTC One M9 for Windows will be a US exclusive, and will not be coming to the rest of the world, just like the HTC One M8 for Windows, which is one again very regrettable.
