When faced with this dilemma HP’s brainstormers have come with with a very interesting and somewhat bizarre product, the HP AMP 100.
- Easily play music from your smartphone with built-in Bluetooth speakers and Smart Amp technology.
- Take phone calls directly from the printer, and keep your smartphone charged.
- Print, scan, manage supplies, and more from a simple-to-use app.
Clearly aimed more for the dorm room that the office, HP noted that the AMP lets you make the most of your (clearly limited) space, with a compact design that fits your life perfectly.
Designed to be used without a PC, and with the expectation you have a smartphone, document scanning is managed via the HP Smart app, which also allows easy printing from your phone.
See the product demoed by a reviewer in this appropriately vertical video below.
The printer costs $129 at Walmart, and certainly gives another use for that very rarely used wireless printer in the corner of your home office, but for some reason I do not think this product, in an increasingly mobile-only world, will save HP’s printer business.
