New high-resolution marketing renders of the Samsung Galaxy Buds, Samsung’s answer to the Apple AirPods, have leaked, and has revealed new details of the fitness-focused truly wireless headphones.
The Galaxy Buds are actually the 3rd iteration of Samsung’s IconX headphones (below), and comparing the new renders with those show significant changes.
Compared to the Galaxy Buds below, the old IconX 2018 has many more electrodes which are smaller in size. The infra-red heart rate detector is also smaller.
The changes are significant, as fewer, larger contact points should mean more reliable charging in the case, an issue which plagues many truly wireless headsets.
The above image also reveals that the actual internal speaker cover has been redesigned, which should make it easier to clean. IconX owners will know the small felt cover in the existing headset is very easy to lose when cleaning the devices – the metal grating should be a lot easier.
Compared to the older IconX headsets, the devices also appear slightly lower profile and smaller, which is, of course, the progression we expect.
The charging case also appears slightly thinner, addressing another pain point.
From earlier leaks, we know the charging case now features wireless charging, and the Buds are expected to feature a large 8 GB of storage and support Bluetooth 5.0.
The Galaxy Buds will have a 58mAh battery, while the charging case supplement that with an additional 252mAh battery.
The Galaxy Buds will be available in White and Black colours at launch.
