Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that the company will be releasing a new universal Skype experience for Windows 10. While the new Skype experience isn’t available on the PC yet, we’ve got our hands on the new Skype apps for Windows 10 Mobile. The Skype apps basically integrate into the Messaging app on Windows 10, where you can send messages via Skype and call someone via Skype as well.

I’ve tried the apps for a while, and they work smoothly. As you may expect, the apps aren’t quite ready yet and there are some bugs here and there. That said, the user interface of the apps is pretty clean, and they look beautiful.

Skype Messaging, Calling and Video *Preview* is a new way to experience Skype features. It integrates individual Skype features where you’d expect them – Skype messaging into Messaging and Skype calling into Phone apps for the fastest way to make calls and send messages. It also adds quick access to Skype video calling. With Skype built in, you’ll be able to reach anyone who uses Skype on iPhones, Androids, even PCs with just a couple of clicks.

Here’s a quick video showing off the new Skype apps in Windows 10 Mobile:
