Kyocera’s new Windows Phone was available at MWC and we had the chance to try it out for a few minutes.
First off, this phone is thick and bulky. It won’t win any fashion contests anytime soon and it doesn’t have to. This phone isn’t built for MacBook/Surface Pro 3 chugging bloggers who visit Starbucks as a daily ritual and have dainty fingers. It is built for men and women who make things happen in the physical sense e.g construction workers and builders. The phone is for rugged men and built to acknowledge that.
Everything else about the phone is fairly standard. The screen was decent, I believe it’s a 720 p screen with a snapdragon 400 processor. it is built with Stock Windows Phone on the QRD program with no OEM customization, it features Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 – though a less polished version of the one shown off on the 640 as this was actually a prototype device. Finally, I was told that it would be updated to Windows 10 as soon as possible.
It will be available soon in Europe with Spain, France and Germany specially highlighted.
Here be pics- the phone was alarmed and halfway enclosed so we couldn’t go crazy with angles:
