343 has revealed that Halo 5: Guardians will not be getting a next-gen update like Halo: The Master Chief Collection is receiving.

While The Master Chief Collection will be updated to reach higher frame rates and more on both Xbox Series X and Series S, 343 Industries’ 2015 sequel will not benefit from similar enhancements.

Revealed through a Halo Waypoint blog post, it was confirmed that the title will not be getting any next-gen support. Instead, the game will only benefit from enhancements to the game’s dynamic resolution and loading times, aspects of the game that are automatically improved with the new hardware.

“After we announced the enhancements that MCC would be getting on the Xbox Series X|S, we did see questions rolling in about how Halo 5 would play on the new consoles,” 343 Industries said.

“While Halo 5 is not getting the same optimizations for Xbox Series X and Series S as MCC, owners of the next-gen hardware are still going to see the benefits of faster load times and consistently higher resolution gameplay.”
