Microsoft has just updated Groove Music for Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring (for those who managed to get on Skip Ahead). You’ll be looking for version  10.1702.1261.0 via the WIndows Store, and of course, will need a WIndows 10 PC and not a phone.

In this release, Microsoft is finally adding in some of the features which were leaked earlier this month.

Here’s what’s new.

  • You can now customize your playlists: With this release, you’ll be able to change and edit image, titles, and descriptions. There’s also windows ink support for editing images, which is great if you’re into that sort of thing.
  • Spotlighted Playlists: Much like Spotify’s Disocer Weekly and Daily Mix, you’ll be getting access to music based on what you play on a daily rota. It’s great for those services, and its about time Groove Music got in on that action too.
Microsoft is expected to add visualizer and equaliser support to Groove in the coming weeks, so WIndows insiders can expect more rapid improvements in the OS’s built in Music player. Microsoft hasn’t yet rolled out is newer updates to its iOS and Android apps, so you won’t quite be able to get the same experience cross platform, but it’s close enough that it probably doesn’t matter yet.
