We already know that Google is working on a successor to Android. Dubbed as “Fuchsia”, the new mobile platform is expected to replace Android. The project is already in works for more than three years. The new platform will have better security updates and will be focused around voice commands and gestures.

Until today, there were several discussions around whether Fuchsia OS will support Android apps. Google has now confirmed via a code comment that Fuchsia OS will support Android apps, but the Android apps will run in a specially designed version of the Android Runtime. It looks like Google has now started the work of bringing millions of Android apps to Fuchsia OS and we can expect Google to officially talk about it at Google I\O later this year.
