The feature began rolling out on May 9, 2025, with broader availability expected over the following weeks. Google is positioning Gemini Live as a step toward more fluid, voice-led computing inside its productivity suite.
Google has launched Gemini Live, a new voice-based feature in the Gemini mobile app for Google Workspace users, enabling two-way spoken conversations with its AI assistant. Unlike traditional voice interfaces, Gemini Live allows users to interrupt or redirect responses in real time, creating a more natural and responsive interaction. The assistant speaks in a conversational tone and can handle open-ended tasks like brainstorming or practicing presentations.

Users can also share their phone’s screen or camera during conversations, allowing Gemini to offer context-aware support, such as reviewing slides or discussing visual material. This adds a layer of utility for professionals needing live assistance during prep work or collaborative tasks.
Gemini Live is available to users aged 18 and older across multiple Google Workspace editions, including Business, Enterprise, Education, and Nonprofits. However, those using work or school accounts should note that conversation history is retained for 18 months and cannot be disabled under the default Gemini Apps Activity setting.
