Google today announced the new Nest home Wi-Fi system with improved speed, larger coverage and in-built Google Assistant. The Nest Wifi system includes two separate devices: The Nest Wifi router that plugs directly into your modem and the Nest Wifi point expands your coverage. Google claims that Nest Wifi will offer up to two times the speed and up to 25 percent better coverage when compared to the previous generation product. The Nest Wifi point also has a speaker with Google Assistant support. So, it can act like a Nest Mini.

The main highlight of the new Nest Wifi system is its design. It comes with a beautiful design with soft, rounded edges and unobtrusive lighting. And it comes in three colors, Snow, Sand and Mist.

The Nest Wifi has local home connectivity allowing smart home devices to connect directly to the system without needing a hub. Google will also add Thread capabilities in the coming months to deliver secure connectivity for smart home devices like door and motion sensors, door locks and more.

Nest Wifi will be available in eight countries in 2019. You can pre-order today in the US, Google will be shipping them from November 4. You can get a two pack with one router and one point for $269, or a three pack with one router and two points for $349 at the Google Store, Target, Best Buy and more retailers.
