As we posted earlier, Google Play Store may explore a new feature that could change how users discover and understand apps and games. Spotted in Play Store version 39.1, the feature displays Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) directly on app listing pages, potentially offering users a quicker way to grasp the essence of an app before downloading.

How it works:

  • An “App FAQs” card with a “Show” button appears on the listing page.
  • Clicking “Show” expands the card, revealing three key questions with dropdown answers addressing general aspects like the app’s purpose, features, and user reception.
  • A “Created by AI” tag indicates the answers are automatically generated.

Potential benefits of FAQs include saving time by providing a concise overview and improving understanding of an app’s functionality and target audience.

AI could generate questions and answers specific to each app in the future, highlighting its unique value proposition. This would significantly improve the current system, where a limited number of frequently asked questions are provided. To further cater to users seeking deeper insights, expanding the list of frequently asked questions to more than three could be helpful, particularly for new users or those with more advanced questions.

Allowing users to suggest or downvote questions could refine the system and improve answer accuracy. This feedback integration would help improve the answers’ accuracy, as users could suggest new questions or upvote or downvote existing ones based on their usefulness.
