Google Maps today announced a brand new feature for Android users in India. This feature will give Google Maps users peace of mind by notifying them if their vehicle goes off-route.
To enable this feature, after searching for your destination and getting directions, select “Stay safer” and “Get off-route alerts” option. If the vehicle (taxi or auto) deviates more than 0.5KM from the Google Maps suggested route, your device will buzz with a prominent notification. You can open the notification to see where you are compared to the original route. Google Maps also allows you to share your live trip with friends and family directly from that screen.
