Google Maps announces integration with RedBus, India's largest inter-city bus ticketing service

At a press event today in India, Google announced several India-spcific product updates. One of them was for Google Maps product. The lightweight version of Google Maps, Google Maps Go, now supports turn-by-turn navigation and comes with brand new home screen with handy shortcuts. Google has also updated the Maps service to provide better guidance to public transport riders, informing them of upcoming stops and sending notifications when it’s time to get off.

The biggest news is around their partnership with RedBus, India’s largest inter-city bus ticketing service. As part of this partnership, when you search for directions in Google Maps, Google will now also display bus transportation options from more than 20,000 inter-city bus routes in 1,500 cities that are listed on RedBus.
