Google’s Android 10 is rolling out today in a matter of hours, and the firm has just redesigned its main Android website to reflect that.
Here’s what to expect:
- Dark Theme – Google is finally adding a native dark theme to Android. This comes with a toggle in the quick settings area and allows users to flip their device theme at the touch of a finger.
- Gestures Support – Love iOS gestures? You’ll be glad to see a version of them on Google’s Android 10.
- Live Caption – Videos are automatically captioned, allowing users who are hard of hearing to understand what is being said even if they can’t hear it clearly. This works not only on web video but also on audio messages and captured videos.
- Privacy Controls – Google has implemented more granular permissions, especially for things like storage and location. Users now have more control over what apps have access to on their devices.
Android 10 is expected to roll out to Pixel devices in a matter of hours, with other OEMs to follow in the coming months. Nokia for one has also promised a fast roll-out of the next-gen Android software on its devices.
After being the fastest to upgrade Nokia phones from N to O and O to P, I am super excited to share with you that the Q(ueue) for Nokia phones is moving fast as we get ready to welcome Android 10 on Nokia smartphones – roll out starts in Q4, 2019! #Nokiamobile #android10 pic.twitter.com/qXM4ZXAPBo
