Another product has entered the Google Graveyard, with Google discontinuing its Google Nest Secure home security system.

The product is no longer available on the Google Store and a Google spokesman told the Verge:

“Google Nest will no longer be producing Nest Secure, however, we will continue to support our security users in all the same ways.”

The Google Nest Secure alarm has survived only 3 years under Google’s stewardship, being introduced in 2017 for a pricy $499.

That price was later reduced to $399, but I suspect current owners will still feel hard done by, even if Google continues to support them.

The move may be only somewhat strategic – Google has recently invested $450 million in ADT, saying that Nest devices will “become the cornerstone of ADT’s smart home offering” suggesting a replacement may still be in the offing.
