Google recently posted a new video explaining the new Ambient Mode in Google Assistant. Google first introduced the Ambient Mode at the IFA event that took place in September.
Once enabled, the Ambient Mode shows information about weather, smart home control, your next meeting, your commute, alarms on your lock screen only when your phone or tablet is plugged into a charger.
You’ll be able to set alarm just with one tap, you can turn off the lights and you can also have a slide show, all without unlocking your Android smartphone or tablet.
However, Google has made no announcement about the availability of this new Google Assistant feature, leaving us in the dark about when and for which Android devices the feature will be available. On the bright side, however, Google did mention that this new Ambient Mode will be available on “select devices” running Android 8 and above.
According to The Verge, Google Assistant’s Ambient Mode will be available on two Lenovo tablets, the Yoga Smart Tab and the Smart Tab M8, and two Nokia phones, the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2.
