One of our favourite Windows Phones is the unpretentious Nokia Lumia 620, which offers great value for money in an attractive package which does not unnecessarily hamstrung users.

If it therefore great to hear that the Windows Phone 8 smartphone is starting to roll out into the market, with Germany’s Media Markt starting to take pre-orders for the smartphone.

Media Markt will be offering the handset at 269 Euro ($355) which is somewhat more than the $250 which Nokia suggested as the retail price, even including Germany’s 19% VAT, but hopefully this is simply to leave scope for price reductions after the launch.

As a reminder the specs of the handset are as follows:

  • 1 GHz dual-core processor
  • 3.8 inch LCD display (800 x 480) with ClearBlack technology
  • 8GB internal memory expandable with microSD
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • 1300 mAh Battery
  • Colors / Cover (changeable): green-yellow, white, yellow, magenta, cyan, black

The handset is unfortunately only expected sometime in “Spring” but in all likelihood will arrive in February. See the range available  Media Markt here .
