Flowerz is a free Xbox Live puzzle game with some decent gameplay (Video Review).

Overall Score: 3/5Flowerz

This is a nice little puzzle game, but unfortunately doesn’t have too much lasting value, and the gameplay can get old a bit faster than other puzzle games.

Gameplay: 4/5

The game is played and controlled by placing flowers that randomly appear from a list onto a field, and trying to get 3 or more flowers lined up horizontally and vertically to score points. To keep the gameplay interesting, they also have some flowers that change into other flower colors after being combined, and they have butterfly pieces which can change the color of a single flower, and some other gameplay changers. Those do make the logic of the game a lot more fun and challenging. There is also an Expert mode in addition to the Standard mode. However, these variations and modes don’t really change too much, for example the expert mode simply starts the game at a tougher difficulty but nothing else is different. Therefore, the gameplay might get old slightly fast.

Presentation: 3/5

The visuals are really basic, but are okay for a puzzle game. The game has sound effects which help hint how many combos in a row you score, but otherwise there is no background music. So overall, the presentation is average.

Lasting Value: 3/5

You could make this game last as long as you want, but since the game doesn’t have much variation in gameplay or modes, it probably won’t hold your attention for too long. The game does have leaderboards and achievements which helps some.
