Overall Score: 4/5DeerHunter3D

Deer Hunter 3D has some fun gameplay, good presentation, and good lasting value, but unfortunately it has nothing absolutely great about it, so it only receives a 4/5.

Gameplay: 4/5

Thanks to the variety of guns, scenery, and difficulty, shooting various animals becomes a fun challenge. To progress through various difficulties and unlock new things, you have to score enough points on a level. The scoring system works by combining the distance and difficulty of the shot you make with the type and size of your prey. If you shoot a black bear hiding behind a far away bush, you will easily get over 5,000 points. However, if you shoot a deer standing right near you, you will receive far less points. The type of gun you use also has an effect on reload speeds, amount of shots, aiming accuracy, and the point bonus. The one slight letdown about the gameplay is the controls, since they are occasionally an issue. At some points in the game, while zoomed in through the scope, panning around didn’t seem to work (this happened twice to me). Also, zooming in and out on your scope is pretty touchy since you have to rotate it in a perfect circle to zoom in. Otherwise the controls work well.

Presentation: 4/5

The 3D world is nice looking, but the textures are quite low resolution. The variety of scenery (desert, snow, forest, etc) is fantastic, but some things, like rain, don’t look that amazing. The sound effects are nice and simple (sounds of the nature environment + gunshots), but they aren’t exceptional or anything, just averagely good.

Lasting Value: 4/5

Unlocking all of the maps will take about 2 hours. Unlocking everything else (tougher difficulties, more weapons) will probably take another hour or two. So the lasting value is right at about 3 or 4 hours. Pretty good for a mobile game.
