Reuters reports that the FTC has approved Microsoft’s purchase of Skype.
Microsoft is offering $8.5 billion for the company, and has said they hope to complete the purchase this year still, and then integrate the company’s technology in their Office and other communication products.
The approval was announced in a listing of deal approvals that comes out several times a week.
The deal will give Microsoft a massive piece of the IM and VOIP pie, but fortunately it appears this did not raise any anti-trust objections.
