The Play To DLNA app is missing from Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 handsets, which is a real pity for such a powerful device.

It appears from some answer’s on Nokia’s Beta Labs that this was not a simple omission, with Eero Penttinen, Lead Program Manager, Nokia Windows Phone Program Management, saying the software is on its way, but is dependent on some DLNA components which still need to be delivered. Eero made a point of saying that the company was not in fact waiting for Microsoft to deliver these components. Presumably much of the software components used on Windows Phone 7 needed to be rewritten for Windows Phone 8.

While some users have been upset by the delay others have lauded Nokia’s transparency regarding the issue.  Where do our readers fall? Let us know below.

Thanks Baltazorina for the tip.
