Discord has rolled out new updates to its Soundboard feature, letting users add custom audio clips, set favorites, and fine-tune volume controls. The Soundboard lives in voice calls and enables users to fire off short sound effects like airhorns, crickets, and claps. It works across desktop and mobile.

To open it on desktop, click the icon in a voice call. On mobile, swipe up from the call tab and tap “Soundboard.” Users can play sounds in any server or DM call if they have permission.

Each server starts with six default sounds, but users can upload their own through Server Settings. Files must be MP3s under 512KB and five seconds long. You can also assign emoji and adjust the default volume.

Users can favorite sounds by clicking the (desktop) or long-pressing (mobile). These show up first in the Soundboard menu and sync across devices.

Nitro subscribers can use any saved sound in any call and assign entrance sounds when joining voice channels. Moderators can limit who uses the Soundboard and whether users can play outside sounds.

Love chaos? Lock it to one channel. Hate it? Turn it off entirely. You decide how loud Discord gets. Discord’s Soundboard enhancements aim to provide users with more expressive and personalized communication options during voice interactions.
