Discord announced today the launch of the App Pitches Program, a new initiative to fund developer apps on the platform.

“Whether you’re a solo hobby dev, a small developer group, or have a huge team behind your app, Discord is the best place to bring your idea to life,” says Discord in the official announcement

Funding will be awarded to the most outstanding proposals across five distinct categories: Apps for Artists, IRL Impact, Mini-Games, Learning, and Wildcard. They’re pretty much self-explanatory: Apps for Artists support creative individuals on Discord, IRL Impact apps facilitate positive real-world community engagement through Discord servers, and so on for the remaining categories.

The top pitch in each category will receive $5,000 in funding, and winners are eligible for an additional $10,000 if they complete their project within 60 days. This brings the total prize pool to $75,000.

The Discord App Pitches Program is open for submissions from September 26 to October 10, 2023. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, or 13-18 years old with parental consent. You must also not be a legal resident of the Canadian province of Quebec, Italy, or Brazil.
