Update: As of October 4 the content is available on Xbox One.

When Destiny launched, Activision signed a rather odious marketing deal with Sony which locked content away from other platforms. Considering that Activision is one of those companies that really doesn’t care about its users, Xbox One owners were left wondering when they would receive some of the armor and Strikes available to PlayStation 4 gamers. Well, after years, we finally have an answer. In a recent post, Bungie said:

The weapons, armor, and playable activities that have been available only on PlayStation will transfer to the Xbox in October, 2017. Exclusive content from The Taken King will migrate to all four launch platforms, including legacy consoles – including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Exclusive content from Rise of Iron will only migrate to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’ll follow up with a more exact date before it arrives.

This is welcome news for Xbox One owners but the timing is strange. Destiny 2 comes out in September so who exactly is going to play the content in October? 10 people? The Destiny content exclusivity is quite possibly one of the most disgusting and unfair deals in gaming history. Unfortunately, this is only going to get worse because it seems like Sony is demanding parity with Xbox One X going forward. What will it take to end this practice?
