Chinese hardware manufacturer Chuwi is taking a shot at the Microsoft Surface as it tackles the device’s 3:2 aspect ratio.

In an effort to push the Surface’s awesome 3:2 display into more devices, Chuwi is also adopting the screen size. With Microsoft bringing the fuller screen size to its mainstream devices, it’s time that more companies adopted the screen size.

“It’s time for Windows laptop makers to embrace 3:2 displays!” Chuwi announced. “Microsoft started the 3:2 aspect ratio trend with the Surface Pro series, but few companies have revamped their PC lineup and followed Microsoft’s lead, which is reallya shame, as we find this aspect much more useful than 16:9 for a productivity laptop.”

Its understandable that many other laptop makers havent opted the 3:2 aspect ratio, Video is something that all users care about. But a laptop is more than just a video playback machine, For millions of users, it’s a primary productivity tool for making a living. They use these devices to read, write, remember, create, connect, and communicate. And in this regard, CHUWIs absolutely doing a great job with their UBook Pro.”

When it releases, the Chuwi UBook Pro probably won’t be a Surface Killer but it certainly looks like a fantastic competitor.

The final version of the device will come with a 3.4Ghz Core™ m3-8100Y, one of the most high-efficiency core ULV processor, and 8GB RAM+Up to 512GB SSD under the hood. The device isn’t available to buy yet, but it will soon be available for a crowdfunding run. If you’re interested, signing up the the Chuwi newsletter will give you a 25% discount.
