Farmville coming to Windows Phone 7!Venturebeat has written a rather long article on how Microsoft sees the importance of gaming on Xbox Live, but completely buried the lead.

Besides Matt Thompson, general manager of developer and platform evangelism for Microsoft’s statement that Xbox Live will be the “the hook that helps sell Windows Phone 7 devices and unseats Apple’s iPhone iOS operating system, BlackBerry OS and Android as the dominant mobile platform”, they also go on about how Xbox Live will allows gamers to “carry their online persona into the real world”.

They of course completely miss the importance of the big news – Zynga’s Farmville is coming to Windows Phone 7!

The iconic game is the most popular Facebook application, with 62 million active users and over 24.6 million Facebook application fans, used by more than 10% of Facebook users, including your mother 😉

Having the game on Windows Phone 7 is clearly a major win, right up there with Angry Birds and Plants versus Zombies 🙂

Of course that was not the only game Thompson name-dropped. He also demoed the popular Babylon Twins game at the GigaOm Mobilize conference (video of the game on the iPad after the break).
