Asus is best known for their ROG series of gaming smartphones which feature a rather rugged design, but this does not mean the company is immune to the full-faced all-screen design trend.

The company has filed a series of design patents with the EUIPO for a full-screen smartphone without a notch which features a variety of ways to manage the selfie camera issue.

The design features a pop-up selfie camera which ranges from a small module to a near full-width slider which would presumably include many more sensors than just a camera. The design also shows the earpiece integrated into the bezel of the screen on top.

The company has also applied for a design which features the now common punch-hole front-facing camera which of course has the advantage of no moving parts, but which also loses usable screen real estate.

The patents were approved and published on the 22nd and 23rd December 2018 and suggest we may see similar devices in February next year at Mobile World Congress.
