Apple’s smart speaker will soon gain a feature available in the Google Home mini since 2017.

Yesterday Apple announced a new feature for the HomePod, Ambient Sounds.

Apple says:

Relax with Ambient Sounds — featuring the soothing sounds of ocean waves, forest birds, rainstorms, and more.

The feature is set to arrive in the fall, presumably at the same time as support for another promised feature, the ability to stream audio from 100,000 streaming radio channels. The HomePod will also gain the ability to seamlessly hand over calls or music from your iPhone to the speaker, recognize up to six different users by their voice and personalize their music requests and messages, reminders and calendars and more.

Despite being behind on features, the HomePod is still retailing at Apple for an impressive $299.99.
