Apple is reportedly increasing the number of orders for its AirPods Pro in response to a large increase in customer demand.
“Apple has increased monthly orders for the latest AirPods Pro from 1 million units to at least 2 million units thanks to healthy demand,” a source with knowledge of suppliers told Nikkei Asian Review.
Apple recently launched the new AirPods Pro line to complement its AirPods line. Adopting a classification strategy the firm has found to work for iPads, Macs and iPhones. From this report, it seems to be working.
“In the future, it [wireless earbuds] could well sell at the level of the iPhone, with some 200 million units a year,” said Jeff Pu, a veteran tech analyst at GF Securities. As per a Digitimes analyst, Apple expects to sell over a hundred million iPhones next year with 5G as a catalyst. If AirPods can even begin to approach that, that’s yet another business that Apple will dominate.
