We already know that Apple’s 2020 iPhones will feature 5G technology enabling ultra-fast wireless connectivity. Today, another report confirmed the same. Benjamin Geskin, a reliable source for Apple related information, today mentioned that Apple is redesigning the antenna lines in 2020 iPhone. The antenna lines will be made wider (>1mm) and instead of plastic, Apple will use a different material (glass, ceramic or sapphire).
In addition to 5G support, Ben revealed that Apple is currently exploring different designs to reduce the size of the notch. Some of the designs are smaller in width, some are narrower to fit the top bezel. If the design looks somewhat similar to the above image, it will be great.
Benjamin also revealed that Apple has plans to get rid of the Lightning port. Instead of replacing it with a USB-C port, Apple may go with wireless charging tech and UWD tech for data transfer (480Mbps (USB 3.0) speed at 3 meters, 110Mbps at 10 meters).
Recently, we reported that Apple may increase the price of 2020 iPhones due to following reasons.
- New materials for metal frame that involve complex processing.
- 5G support with Qualcomm modem.
- New camera upgrades including the 3D ToF sensor on the back.
The 2020 iPhone lineup will be much better in various ways including 5G support, 3D rear camera, improved processor, improved design, improved build quality and more. If you are planning to buy an iPhone 11 series device this year, I would recommend you to drop the plan and wait for the next iPhone series.
