While Microsoft went against all trends and seemingly doubled down on bezels with the Surface Go, according to a leak based on official CAD files, Apple will finally be mostly getting rid of them in their new generation of iPad Pro tablets being announced soon.
According to OnLeaks and MySmartPrice Apple is expected to launch a 12.9 inch and 10.5 inches iPad Pro which forgoes the Home button and features Apple’s Face ID unlocking tool. According to their information Face ID will however not work in Landscape mode, but fortunately will not require a notch in the screen.
Besides a notch, another thing missing is supposedly a headphone jack, but the tablet compensates with 4 speakers, one on each corner. The sleek device will only be 5.85 mm thick (or 7.77 mm including the camera bump), and will be smaller than other iPads of similar screen size, totalling 280.6×215×5.85mm.
The smart connector is now on the shorter side of the tablet, above the charging port, suggesting Apple wishes you to use the device in portrait mode when connected to a keyboard.
