Nokia’s Imaging team was due to transition to Microsoft, but it appears it will be without one of the key architects behind the Pureview technology.

Ari Partinen, who co-authored the paper behind the 41 megapixel Pureview technology with Juha Alakarhu, has announced on Twitter that he will be joining Apple in June this year.

The news will come as somewhat of a blow to Microsoft’s smartphone efforts, as imaging technology was one of the major selling points of Nokia’s high end handsets.

Hopefully however integration with Microsoft Research will bring new talent to Nokia’s imaging division to help ensure Nokia’s excellent reputation is maintained.
