If you use public transportation in one of the five major cities, such as Boston or Los Angeles, this free app will be very helpful for predicting when a bus will come to your closest stop.

The purpose of the app is to help you find bus routes and show you when the buses will be arriving at the stops. It does achieve that purpose, but there are a few downsides. First, the interface is slightly confusing. It’ll take you a while to learn how to use the app, and since there’s no help in the app, you’re on your own for figuring out how to do things. Some things like the estimated time of arrival numbers aren’t very apparent and could have been more clearly labeled. Selecting bus routes also isn’t the easiest thing for someone who is new to public transportation. The second downside is that the walking directions and directions to a location don’t seem to work. Maybe it is because I was too far from any of the bus stops, but whenever I tried to get directions to a stop or to a store, the app would always present me with an error.

However, if you move past those letdowns, the app does achieve its purpose. If you’re looking for a free transit app, there aren’t that many. Plus, most transit apps are limited to one city, like Chicago. This free app has multiple cities and is free! It is definitely worth checking out. Hopefully the developer can continue to improve the interface and the walking directions, but for the price of free, it’s not bad at all.

The included cities are: Massachusetts, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland, and more.
