On May 16, Anima Flux launched on Xbox Game Pass, bringing its punishing side-scrolling action to console and PC players. Set in a gritty sci-fi dystopia, the game forces two elite soldiers, Svetlana and Asya, to survive a mutant-infested city with only each other to rely on. The twist? It’s built for co-op first.
Developer Anvil Frame dials the challenge up fast. Enemies swarm, environments punish, and solo play becomes a slog without smart switching between characters. Local co-op works best, where split-second revives and dual attacks keep momentum alive.

In Anima Flux, players should not expect glowing quest markers or tutorials. Players must figure out level layouts, boss patterns, and upgrade priorities on the fly. Precision dodges and timed counterattacks decide most fights, especially when facing off against mutated bosses.
Combat rewards aggression, not caution. The game throws players into the action with minimal fluff. Upgrades matter, but skill trumps stats. You’ll want to learn each character’s moveset fast and coordinate tightly during co-op.
Unlike usual titles, the game doesn’t babysit players in their journey. It expects players to fail, learn, and improve fast. If you’re into punishing gameplay with tight co-op, it’s worth a download.
