Yesterday we reported that Amazon’s Windows Phone app is no longer showing up in the search results of the Windows Store. If you are trying to install the app by searching for it in the Store, you will not be able to find it unless you have a direct link to the app.
With the Windows Store quite prone to bugs and issues we could not know if Amazon made the app private on purpose , or if the store messed up as usual.
Now Amazon support has confirmed to WindowsUnited.de in a detailed statement that the app has in fact been made intentionally unavailable.
Couched in the form of a Q&A Amazon said:
1. Why is the Amazon Shopping app no longer available  in the Windows Store? Â
… The Shopping app is not available for Windows Phone for download. We recommend customers Amazon.de call via your mobile browser, where they have access to all the shopping features.
 2. Why can Windows Phone users not download the Amazon Shopping App? Â
It is our first priority to offer our customers the best possible shopping experience, so our shopping app is no longer available for Windows Phone. We recommend customers Amazon.de call via your mobile browser, where they have access to all the shopping features.
3. Is a new Amazon App for Windows 10 in development?
Sorry, we have no information about our product planning.
4. Does this change have any effect on Windows Phone users who have already downloaded the app?Â
No, currently there is no impact.
The app can still be found at the link below, but we do not know for how long.
With Windows Phone hitting much less than 1% market share it is likely that we will see many more apps go the same route, but hopefully the growing Universal Windows Platform will bring the developers back, just like the recently released Bank of America app.
