Amazon today announced the updated version of Kindle Paperwhite, the most popular e-reader available in the market. The new Kindle Paperwhite features thinner, lighter and waterproof design. For a limited time, Amazon is including six months of Kindle Unlimited for free so you can read as much as you want at no additional cost.

Highlights:

  • The thinnest, lightest Kindle Paperwhite yet—with a flush-front design and 300 ppi glare-free display that reads like real paper even in bright sunlight.
  • Now waterproof, so you’re free to read and relax at the beach, by the pool, or in the bath.
  • Enjoy twice the storage with 8 GB. Or choose 32 GB to hold more magazines, comics, and audiobooks.
  • Now with Audible. Pair with Bluetooth headphones or speakers to listen to your story.
  • A single battery charge lasts weeks, not hours.
  • The built-in adjustable light lets you read indoors and outdoors, day and night.
  • Get instant access to new releases and bestsellers, plus over a million titles at $2.99 or less.

Amazon has also improved the software experience in this new Kindle Paperwhite. Amazon will be releasing an updated home experience, as well as the ability to quickly save and access reading settings.

  • An updated home—The new home experience makes it easier to find your next read based on your reading history, including books that are free for you to read from Kindle Unlimited or Prime Reading. You can also view reading accomplishments, like how many days in the past month you’ve read, as well as fun facts and tips so you can get the most out of your device.
  • Easily personalize your reading—Now save multiple reading settings, selecting the font, boldness level, and orientation settings you prefer all from the main menu and quickly switch between those settings.

These features will also be coming to older Kindles in the coming weeks via an OTA update.

The new Kindle Paperwhite is available for pre-order today starting at $129.99 here and will start shipping November 7. The new Kindle Paperwhite is $129.99 for the 8 GB model and $159.99 for the 32 GB model. The 32 GB with free cellular connectivity is $249.99.
