Acer takes on Microsoft Surface Pro series with the new Switch 5

At its press event in NYC today, Acer announced its new Switch 5 2-in-1 device that will directly compete with Microsoft Surface Pro range. Switch 5 comes with U-shaped auto-retractable kickstand which will allow users to adjust the device according to their own needs. It supports Windows Hello through fingerprint reader. Thanks to Acer LiquidLoop technology, Switch 5 features a fanless cooling system to keep the temperature of the device under control. The Switch 5 also comes with a 12-inch Full HD (2160×1440) display with support for Acer Active Pen. You can configure this device with Intel 7th Gen Core i5 and i7 processors.

Acer today also announced Switch 3, a more affordable convertible which will feature 12-inch full HD display with Acer Active Pen support, Intel Pentium or Celeron processor, the same auto-retractable kickstand and the fanless cooling system.

The Acer Switch 5 will be available in North America in June starting at $799; in EMEA in June starting at €1,099; and in China in July starting at ¥7,499. The Acer Switch 3 will be available in North America in June starting at $399; in EMEA in June starting at €499; and in China in July starting at ¥4,999.
