Alongside all its Windows PCs, Acer introduced two new powerful Chromebooks.

Unlike the Acer Chromebook Spin PCs introduced last year, these ones are simple clamshell affairs. You won’t find any bending or twisting action here, all you’re getting is a stuffy well built and powerful Chromebook.

The Acer Chromebook 714 and 715 share the same specs, save their respective 14 and 15.6-inch displays. Inside, they’ll come with Intel processors going up to an i5 and up to 16 GB of RAM. They’ll come with Full HD displays, up to 12 hours of battery life, with fingerprint support. For the larger device, Acer will be adding a full numeric keypad — a first for modern Chromebooks.

They’ll run web apps, Android apps and Linux apps, and the full aluminium build makes it so they can take a hit if dropped.

Both laptops will go on sale from July in America and the EMEA region, and start from $499 for the base model.
