The 3dRudder, a foot-powered motion controller designed to make PlayStation VR all the more immersive, is due out this June.

The device looks a bit like a much fancier Roomba. The top half is a mostly flat circular platform that you rest your feet on, while the bottom half is rounded. All you need to do is sit down, place your feet on it, and tilt your feet in the direction you want to go in-game. The harder you tilt, the faster you go.

The 3dRudder allows you, the player, to walk in a straight line, sprint while turning a corner, or simply stop exactly where you want to. No fiddly sticks or buttons involved. Inside the device are IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) and pressure sensors that track your every movement.

In terms of setup, all you need to do is plug it into your PlayStation 4 controller using a USB cable. The 3dRudder is compatible with PlayStation Move motion controllers, the PS VR Aim controller, and Dualshock 4.

At launch, the 3dRudder will support 25 PS VR games, including Contagion VR, Darkness Roller Coaster, Immortal Legacy: The Jade Cypher, and Ultrawings VR. You can see the full list here.

The 3dRudder will launch on 17th of June at a RRP of $119/£119. Global pre-orders are open now on the official 3dRudder store.
