Despite both being owned by Facebook, WhatsApp doesn’t have as much functionality as ts sister app – Facebook Messenger – especially when it comes to messaging extras like gifs and stickers,
Now it looks like the firm is adding gif support into its messaging app for all users – Windows phone included.
Sported by Aggiornamenti Lumia, the new WhatsApp private beta build includes some rudimentary support for gif support.
As can be seen in the gif above, the app update now highlights gifs stored on the phone or sd card – though it stops just short of animating them in either the chat pane or preview.
This feature will clearly be iterated upon in future releases, and perhaps WhatsApp may even add gif search like Twitter, Telegram and GroupMe among others.
Nevertheless, users who prefer WhatsApp over Facebook Messenger would now be pleased that the app is adding more and more functionality to make chats better for the parties involved.
