Apple’s AirPods are great fashion accessories but do not exactly offer the pinnacle of sound quality, particularly due to offering next to no sound isolation.

Today Apple pushed out iOS 12.2, bringing support for Apple News+, and also leaked a new truly wireless headphone, the Powerbeats Pro.

Uncovered by 9to5Mac, the headphones include an actual in-ear component, feature an over the ear design which should make them about 1000 x more secure than AirPods and will come with a relatively large charging case which will hopefully mean longer battery life.

9to5Mac claims the headphones will feature Apple’s new H1 Bluetooth chip, which offers faster pairing and better battery life, and also “Hey, Siri” support. It seems to recharge via Lighting, but wireless charging has not been excluded.

Much less flashy and attention-catching than AirPods, I suspect these utilitarian headphones will be correspondingly less popular.
