After a lot of hype, VR industry has become quite nowadays. Only a handful of companies are further pursuing VR as a platform. Despite great efforts from Facebook (Occulus) and Google, consumer VR market never took off as expected. Varjo, a company behind industrial-grade VR headsets, today announced the world’s first human eye-resolution virtual reality device, the Varjo VR-1.

This headset has a resolution of more than 60 pixels per degree, which is 20X+ higher than any other VR headset in the market. As a result, users can enjoy realistic immersive experience. It also comes with advanced integrated eye tracking with a sub-degree accuracy which allows high-precision analytics and interaction with VR content. It also supports major 3D software tools and engines (already including Unreal, Unity, Autodesk VRED, PREPAR3D, ZeroLight, and VBS Blue IG).

Here’s why most of us can’t buy this headset:

  • Varjo VR-1 will cost $5995 USD with an additional yearly service license of $995 USD.
  • Varjo VR-1 is available only in 34 countries.
  • Varjo VR-1 is only available for businesses and academic institutions.
